Catch Up

Oh my its been a while since I've updated! Lots has happened in the past few weeks. We went home to Pennsylvania for a week and it was fabbbbulous. We spent the first half in Harrisburg with Kevins family. Kevins grandparents are the only ones out of everyone in our family that have an extra bed thats bigger than a twin for us to sleep in. So we stay with them and I am SO glad that we do! Its kinda nice to have them all to ourselves, too :) Plus Grandma gave me some pretty amazing recipes to add to my colletction, especially her pound cake...mmm.

We also spent time at with Kevins dad and that side of the family, plus a few friends who came to visit. There were a total of 15 people there and Elias was a really tropper. Everyone wanted to hold him and play and get up in his face, and he did a great job at first. But then he got overwhelmed and had a meltdown. And then mommy almost had a meltdown too. You see, my kid doesn't screan. Ever. Okay, maybe, like once a week for 10 seconds max. But seriously, he hardly ever cries anymore at all. He whines, but as soon as he gets what he needs, he's super content and happy. So when he wouldn't stop crying and I almost had a meltdown, it wasn't because I didn't know what to do. In fact, I knew exactly what to do and what he needed. He needed to be alone with us. We went from it just being Mommy, Daddy, and Elias to a room full of people. He was just simply overwhelmed. Everyone wanted to help, which was SO sweet and considerate. I just needed to be alone with him. And once we got him alone, it was all good in the neighborhood! Aside from his meltdown though, it was wonderful to see that side of the family and the friends who came, too.

We then went to my parents house for the rest of the week. Annnd my amazing mom made my most favorite dinner EVER as an early Easter feast - HAM!!!! Oh, people, you have no idea...this isn't any ordinary ham. The gist of it is its smothered in brown sugar, and basted with a pineapple/orange marmalade/rum mixture. SO GOOD! If anyones interested in the recipe, leave me a comment and I'll post it on here. Part of me wants to keep it to myself as a "secret family recipe" but its truly just too good not to share :)
Okay...moving on. My Mom-Mom found a guy that converted her old home videos over to DVDs and we watched them for the first time ever. I was resistant at first, because the videos were of the first 5 years of my life, and I knew my grandfather would be in a lot of them. Even though its been 7 years now since he's passed away, its still an extremely sensative subject with me (I'm crying just typing this out..blahhh). But we popped them in and watched them for literally hours. I was right, he was in practically all of them. But it was good. I think I only teared up once or twice. It was just so good to see him again.

Elias has surgery tomorrow bright and early at 6am. He's getting the pins taken out and the skin tags removed off his ear. It shouldnt be very long at all if all goes well. I pushed back his eating schedule a bit today because he won't be able to eat after midnight tonight. So as soon as Im done this post, I'm waking him up, taking off the cast, and giving him his first bath in a bathtub in a looong time (please note: I bathe my child every single day! He just can't get a tubby bath...so he gets a sponge bath instead). AND tonight while I was eating dinner, Elias was playing on the floor, and I looked away for a few seconds, heard him grunt, and looked over and he had rolled over to his belly!!! Ever since he rolled from his belly to back a few weeks ago, he hasn't rolled at all since. I heard thought it normal for babies to roll and then not roll again for a few weeks until their confidence builds and then they're able to do it over and over. I'm excited to see how much he weighs tomorrow...I'm guessing 18lbs. I can barely carry him from the house to the car, he's so heavy!

Ahh I have so much I want to blog about, but I need to get Elias a bath and ready for bed. So thats all for now! Please say a prayer for Elias for his surgery tomorrow. Also pray that they'll find a good vein for the IV. Poor babys got his mama's veins...
